: i saw a bass player who had a piece of clear plexiglass covering his pickups underneath his strings. the plastic provides a uniform surface for the fingers to hit in between the strings, instead hitting the of the pickup. he said another bassist started doing it and gave me a website to go to, but i lost it. does anybody know about this sort of thing?
hey Isaac if I"m understanding correctly it"s similar to the ramp on the Gary Willis signature Ibanez bass. His invention, to keep from digging in too deeply under the strings. Probably enables faster picking.thanks Kudela
