Thought you might like to know I've decided to go ahead and buy the Attitude and live without the j pickup. I think it might suit my ear as it is. (I had tried it alongside a new Fender California Special - p body j neck, p+j pickups - the j sounded awfull). Sometimes I/we get caught up reaching for the 'perfect sound' - encouraged by magazines and advertising.
Thanks for your input.
: If you looking for classical Fender you can just buy Fender Deluxe Precision Special
: (http://www.fender.com/gear/gear.php?partno=0135700) or similar Squier P-bass Special (http://www.squierguitars.com/gear/gear.php?partno=0321500_Special).
: I have seen many other models e.g. ESP, Ibanez producing P+J basses.
: Buying new P-bass and installing additional J-pickup would cost more and requires time and skills but results may vary a lot.
: I had p-j style bass (ESP LTD b-50). Its p+j combination takes all advantages of both pickups.
