Doug, I tried it with my headless bass that has a zero fret. In most cases with a bass that has a standard nut, the nut will have to be altered/filed wider, so that the larger strings will fit the nut without breaking it. If after trying it, you decide you don't like it strung BEAD, you will probably have to have another nut installed. With my headless bass this was not the case. After trying it, I missed not having the G string and switched back, but I also have a 5 string bass. JMHO
