A couple of things I forgot to mention....Your Ibanez bass has an ebony board that could be removed with a hot knife(luthier fun!!)....but the neck below WILL have to be planed to "true it again. The new board will have to make up the difference in thickness. This is good, because you will be replacing unstable wood with new, hopefully more stable ebony. If you can stand the neck any thicker than it already is, do it,this will only add to the overall stability of the neck. I happen to like chunky necks. This is also a good time to consider graphite inlays as well. Some people really appreciate what graphite can do in terms of stability and tone. I'm not one of them, but you may be.
