: : Does anyone know of any tapping lessons for COMPLETE beginners? Or can anyone outline the basics for me? All the lessons I can find assume that I already know how to do it and go straight on to double tapping and two handed tapping, whatever that is! :P So I'm slightly lost.....

: Emma,
: At its most basic, "tapping" is nothing more than tapping on the strings, rather than plucking or strumming them. Try playing a scale, and instead of plucking the strings, give them quick little taps as you play each note.

: Tapping kinda made its way over from the guitar side of things; Eddie Van Halen was the one who really got the trend started back in the late 70's and early 80's, and it expanded from there.

: Hope that helps!

actually,. wouldn't you be tapping and fretting the strings with your right hand instead of freting with the left and plucking or strumming with the right??
