: I play two Roscoe LG basses, a 5-string and a 6-string fretless, and I'm looking at giving up my SWR rig for something a little more pleasant sounding. I'm going to be purchasing an Aguilar DB-680 preamp and running it through a Crest Power Amp. I need opinions, concerns, and recommendations on the following:
: -Two Bag End Q10BX-D Speakers
: -Two Euphonic Audio VL-210 or VL-310 Speakers
: -Two Epiphani T310 or T410 Speakers
: ...or any other speaker setups that might sound good with the Aguilar/Crest setup.
>>>> Hi Zach...
When it comes to this type of high-end boutique stuff, you'll
pretty much have to trust your own ears; players that own these
set-ups probably wouldn't be the most objective people inthe world,
they're obviously going for a much more individually tailored sound.
These manufacturers aren't aiming for the mass market and it's
nearly impossible to find these brands all in one store for an
honest, side-by-side comparison. I can only tell you about my
EDEN 4X10XLT, which is a very fine cabinet; it has superb frequency
response, is fast and tight, even on the low B string. It may be
worth a try, if you haven't already. The "caveat-emptor" saying
remains true, especially in the league of equipment you're talking
about here, if you're willing to lay out over a grand for any cab,
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY, let your OWN ears be the judge...
