thanks. yeah i had the gain way up, I realize that's not good. I have an SWR with the active input which is nice, so I think it'll be better.
: : I just got a new bass with active electronics, but when I turn the treble all the way up and then move the mid anywhere away from the middle i get a loud buzz. Is this normal? I have the gain way up on my amp but I still don't understand. ANy info on active pickups and noise would be great. Thanks.
: Yo Josh,
: Yes, it is normal for some active circuitry to add noise to the signal to some degree. Keep in mind than every time you boost any given frequency, you're also boosting the signal's gain. How do you tame that noise then? In the scenario you described, I'll try turning the amp's gain control DOWN -the boosted signal coming from the bass might be just too hot for your amp's imput to handle. Or, does your amp have an "active" or "-10dB" input? Then try plugging your amp in there. It should be able to handle the signal coming from your bass without clipping the amp's pre stage.
: Hope this helped. Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,
