Take no notice but my way of thinking is loud!! - and this doesn't mean you have to drown out your band, but from experience with amps and live sets, you can't just 'put the volume on 'number 9' and leave it', you have to constantly adjust with the set.(Some people use their bass volume control, but I don't.I leave that on full and play with my amp - that way I can experiment with my 'sound').
I'd say buy the biggest head and cabs you can afford,not ridiculous but 'meaty'.
This way you have the OPTION of going upwards if the need be.
Remember, you can turn a powerful amp down but you can't turn a tiny amp up.
Another advantage of playing a big system low rather than a small amp high is the sound quality_ clear, crisp, and bassy rather than distorted 'noise'.
