I am usually partial to GHS Brite Flats for my basses. My quartet plays mostly swing-era standards and, recently, a bit of vintage rock. However, I took a chance and ordered a three-pack of the LaBella black nylon tape-wound strings that Carvin sells under its name. They are quite cheap (I think three sets were around $40). So far, I have used them only on my acoustic Washburn AB-25, but they sound good for my type of music and have an nice smooth feel. They may be lower tension than the bronze acoustic rounds that were on the Washburn when I bought it and the Brite Flats I typically use, however, so I am having some set-up issues in trying to get a bit more neck relief.
