: I use D'Addario XL's, I have tried the Prisms and actually love them, there light and bright, so light my bass was in need of adjustments, etc. So I have stuck w/ the XL's, but lately I have been thinking about the ol rotosound round wound, 45-105 swing 66, I used these for years and your right Pat they are a very solid string, very good tone, and at an awesome price.

: """just a note, has anyone ever strung their bass with different strings, such as I have been thinking about stringing my '70's 4 string ibanez roadster with a low B.. any comments? Suggestions? Experience with this??

I've sometimes played my four string with a low B string with tuning BEAD. It was cool to get low but I didn't like the missing of the G string. Also I've tried to replace the E with a B string having tuning BADG but of course this doesn't work as well as a normal tuning but you do get to that low B. If you like to experiment then drop the B to A, then you'll have AADG with an octave jump on open strings.
Just something to think about.
