: I recently heard that from a friend and I was wondering if you have any information to back-up this rumour. I'm far from a Metallica fan but it's interesting to know these things. But hey, if what I heard was true all you metal guys out there maybe this is your chance to get into the real deal.

Let me just add my two cents, I used to love metal before I became more INVOLVED in music, anyhow I knew an excellent bass player back in the day, what was this '86 they were auditioning, anyhow this guy Jack Mcquire made newsted seem like an amature, my friend came in 3rd place to say the least, at any rate the only reason newsted ever even made it is cuz he allready had a following from Flotsom and Jetsom, Metallica's commercialization killed the band back in the '80's, perhaps now, we can forget about them, or perhaps get a better bass player, " one who just dont use a pick on the down strokes either", perhaps I added more than my two cents. ONE more note, every band but 2 that I've ever been in I too was the last man on the totom pole, when your initially not part of a band when its forming, its hard to have a Total say so.. Besides dont guitar player think its their band no matter what anyway??

Peace and Chicken Grease,
Rob
