Yikes.....I don't know man. I think if you're going to make a change, and considering the styles of music you play, it's probably a good idea to stay with active electronics. They enhance slapping tremendously, and they sound excellent on the low end for jazz fusion. If you go with the Fender Jazz, you might want to consider putting some active EMG or Bartolini electronics into it. You might want to look at the Marcus Miller Signature if you're looking for a 4-string. For a 5, the Ibanez BTB is a fantastic bass, as is the Modulus Quantum and Genesis bass, and the new MTD basses are cool, and the Warwicks are great too! I can see why you want to get rid of it, but make sure it's for something of equal value at least.
