: For many many years my main gigging amp was a Stage 450 Combo. It's a 45 watt amp with a 15in speaker.
: I bought it used around 1984. It's got a great sound and was surprisingly loud. It finally started to wear out so I retired it last fall.
: I've always been curious about its history. Only once or twice have I ever seen an ad for a used amp by Stage and I've never seen a new one.

: Does anyone know anything about these amps?

Bob,
Stage? Now *there's* a name I haven't heard for *ages*; last time I saw one was at *least* 20 years ago...

Stage was one of those companies that popped up in the early 1970's when the market opened up and companies like Sunn, Orange, Acoustic, etc., really came into their own.

I think I played through a Stage guitar amp *once* (never had a bass amp to try out); if I remember right, I didn't like the tone all that much, but I could be thinking of some totally different amp.

: I've also always wondered what happened to the company that made Acoustic amps - the 360, the b150 etc? I still have a B150 head but it overheats and makes more line noise than an old vacum cleaner. If it worked I would still use it, in my mind nothing beats the old Acoustic sound.

The Acoustic line is in production again, from my understanding; I don't remember all the details, but I think I saw it at Bass Player magazine's site.

Hope that helps!

-Bob
