Thanks for your help =) Yup, it was the BBN5, the one with the humbucker style pickups (but sounds more like a jazz). It was alright, not bad actually. I wish I didn't put it next to the Music Man Stingray 5....ouch, but that's twice the money though. The only major pitfall is lack of balls....the tone is decent, but gotta put up the gain and tweak a little too much. However, some pickup tweaking (add preamp) or replacing could make it a real contender. For a bass just under $500, investing a little more still makes it a good axe for the money (likely a ballsy one). Also sounds picky I suppose....black is cool, but those damn smudges.....
: : Hello-
: : A guitar tech was just telling me about a lower end Yamaha 5 string he's worked on a couple of times that he is blown away with it's sound and also plays well. I have minimal info on it, but maybe someone might know something on it. I checked Yamaha's site and awaiting response from Yamaha because I don't see one on that description there.
: : Description:
: : - bolt on neck
: : - he's only seen them in black, thinking MAYBE only available in black or red
: : - only says "Yamaha" across the bottom of headstock
: : - not sure if the bass is even active
: : Wish I can give you more info! Anyway, I'm curious because he works primarily for pro's in Nashville, so he sees the high end stuff all the time, cool to hear a low end recommendation.

: Sounds like a BBN5
