: Currently when I'm playing chords on my bass I have to use a pick. Every
: time I try using my fingers to play a chord it just doesn't sound right.
: Is it just a fact of life I have to use the pick, or is there a technique I haven't figured yet???
: Thanx a lot.

There must be many ways of playing chords and it sure ain't easy to explain without showing. But here I go:
Put your hand in a fist and open it up above the strings, the finger tips or actually the nails should hit the strings when your fingers are straitning up. It pretty much sounds like using a pick as your finger nails are quite hard.
Well, as I said there must be many ways of playing chords, but this is a style I use, I first picked it up from Les Claypool but I've seen others use it too. Come to think of it Michael Manring strums like with a pick but instead of the pick he uses his nails. I quess the thing is to use your nails.
