: I recently bought a great GK 400RBIII amp and i love it but it is constantly going on something that i have been informed is called "protect" which for all intesive purposes means that it shuts down.. i have been told that this is dur to overheating or just too much signal from my bass... this is a huge burn when it just shuts down mid song... mid gig... if anyone either has a solution for me or would just like to sympathize please e-mail me.
: thank you for you're time and consideration....
What kind of cabinet are you running it into?
Even more importantly, how many ohms impedence is the cabinet, and what output are you running it from?
The "protect" is to protect the power amp stages, etc., from a short circuit or too much current; the amp will go into "protect" mode if it's trying to drive into too little impedence (4 ohm cabinet, 8 ohm output, etc.).
Make *sure* that you're loading the amp properly; if that doesn't work, we'll see what else we can do. :-)
Hope that helps!
