: : So, what I'm considering is changing out the Ibanez ADX6 soapbar pickups with some replacements. I've been looking at EMG-40P pickups but I'm just not sure. Anyone have any experience with changing out pickups to get a different sound? Any advice/ideas would be appreciated.

: EMG's have a great "Hi-Tech" (my definition) sound, and are great pickups. I prefer a darker sound like what BArtolini's give me, which is what I put into my 3 year old Carvin 6 string and am very happy with. Whatever you do, tho, use a luthier if this is your first time for changing out pickups... especially if routing is involved.

I second Paige on that, the Barts sound more "natural" to my ears. Could you go to a music store and try out some different setups. By switching the settings a lot, you may get a better idea of the range of the pups. -B
