Hi Gary...I picked one up a few weeks ago, I've only used it on one gig
so far; I like the unit quite a bit, it's got a very warm tube
tone to it, and the overdrive sounds are pretty realistic just so long
as you don't max out the gain and presence controls. It takes a bit of
fiddling to find the sound you're looking for, and I actually have a bit
more exploring to do myself, but it's probably as close to having an
all tube amp as possible without having to carry one around! It seems
to work best on passive instruments; it gave my 4001 some extra heft
and warmth, and seemed to tighten up the low end of my Jazz bass which
always seemed kinda flabby to me. For less than 200 bucks, it's a hell
of a unit, it makes my old Scholz Bass Rockman seem like a toy/joke, and
is almost dead quiet. I'm still in the experimentation phase with the unit,
I'll probably report back in a couple months with a more comprehensive review.
