Yo Joao Paulo,
I believe the software you talk about is called SlowGold or something. The URL is something like, I think. I downloaded a demo version some time ago but it didn't work in my PC (don't take that to heart, though; it was clearly a problem of my computer).
However, I discovered a trick that works for the purpose you want to achieve: just install some audio editor like Cool Edit or Sound Forge in your PC, set your system to record directly from your CD reader device, and record the song or passage you're interested in; then save it as a .wav file. Then start Cool Edit (or whatever audio editor you have installed) and open the file you saved. Once you're there, just chosee the "stretch audio" (or similar) function. If it works well, it should let you slow down the tempo without changing the pitch. With Cool Edit, you can even chosee how much (measured in %) you can slow down the song. The only disadvantage is that the audio quality deteriorates somehow, but it still is useful.
IT WORKS! and you can take advantage of your audio editor over the selected file (add effects, make loops, set different tempos on different sections, etc.). As a matter of fact, I'm currently using Cool Edit to pick up and transcribe Jeff Berlin's solo on "Bach" (yes, that sonofabitch is givin' me more than one headache!!), so I can tell you it really works. Try this plan for yourself and you'll see it beats the hell out of trying to make the SlowGold work. Oh, yes, and come back here to tell us how it worked out.
"Vai embora" my friend! Hope this helped and, as always, buena suerte and keep those basses way up front in the mix,

El Pájaro
