: Thanks for the reply HUB! I have a question though... you said I should pull out the active electronics in it. Are you saying I should just get rid of them and make it a passive bass or are you saying I should replace the active electronics with something else? I'm new to all of this, bear with me! ;-)
What HUB means is take all the electronics out of the bass (the ones that are in there now) and replace them with EMG electronics (the pick ups you buy will come with a volume an a tone per pick-up). There should be extensive instructions on how to put them in. I also have an Ibanez and I just replaced mine with 40DC's (both of them) and an EMG BTC System (bass, treble, volume and balance). The BTC was optional, but it gives you that extra bass and treble as opposed to just the tone/volume that comes with the pickup. You have to buy the BTC (or BTS if you have room for 4 knobs on your bass) seperatly. Anyway, the sound difference is amazing! No background noise at all (that I've heard so far)! Very clear and very loud. My recomendation is go with the 40DC (Dual Coil) rather than 40P, but that's just a suggestion.
I hope this helps!
