Actually, ask yourself one question. How many years have you been playing the bass with the strings tuned to the common tension. Nothing has happened to the bass so far ...right? Basses were made to be strung up and played. The strus rod and strings equal each other out. Just store your bass with the strings tuned up to 440A and it will be just fine. If you store the neck straight, then it will come out straight. If you give the struss rod time to work on the wood, then it will come out the way the rod wants it to. I am sorry to hear that you won't be playing for that long of time. Good luck to you in your adventures. Peace. John
