: Hey all fellow bass-players
: i play a squire (start laughin) 5-string P-bass special. when i play i notice my low N string doesnt get as much feeling in it. i feels like its a notch lower volume or something than the other strings. my amp shouldnt be the problem. its a peavey with a 15incher and 65 or so watts, so its big enough for a garage band guy like me. so my question is is it the pickups, os something else im missin?
BigAndy,
You meant the low B string, right? :-)
First, you might want to tweak the pickups so that it's a little closer to the low B string; it doesn't take a lot to make a difference, so just do little adjustments until you get it where you want it.
Just curious, what kind of EQ does your amp have? Basic 3-knob, 5-band graphic, etc.? That can play a big role in how good the B string sounds, too; a lot of older amps weren't made with 5-strings in mind, so they can sound muddy when you run a 5 through them.
Do a little tweaking, and see what happens, ok?
Hope that helps!
