B, first off, welcome. you will find this board to be very helpful and the integrity level is very high also. Now, I am going through the exact same thing with my band. It just takes practice. It helps to be really familiar with the bass line first and then try the singing. After screwing up countless times, there was this one time where it all just clicked. I found myself playing the line and singing the melody at the same time...AND IT WAS EASY! It all just fell into place. Then i tried the next song, and I screwed THAT up a dozen or so times. Then that fell into place. Its all just training. Practice and it will come. I find that singing over the songs that I write comes easier because of the practice factor. Just keep plugging away at it and all will be well. I read an article about Geddy Lee saying he had to be extremely familiar with a bass line before he can start singing over it or he would have a problem too......If you can believe that! Any way B, practice is the word and the word is good. Peace....John
