No harm intended, bad habit I picked up from a drummer names Danny D'Imperio. There's a bassist named John Ray that kinda does the same Tourette's sorta things, my name (Ed Fuqua) morphed into Dead Pukespray.
Try it yourself, it's lotsa fun. Bad Toneqway hasn't been used yet...
As far as recordings, can you name a couple from that ton? Most of the cats I listen to, even those that are more horizontal players, tend to hear chords going places, rather than hearing each as a seperate entity. People like PC, OP, Sonny Dallas, Sam Jones etc.
But if it works for you...
Point is the cat didn't seem to understand the situation of having more than one key center in a tune, and dealing with/being aware of secondary dominance is a more useful tool than just playing a chord scale chord by chord. In my opinion.
