: First of all, thanks to all you who replied to my slap bass question, this board rocks.

: I'm considering a new job that would require quite a bit of travel and I'm starting to wonder if I could bring a bass along with me. I'm
: looking around for gear that would be suitible for this so I can keep practicing while away from home. So far I'm thinking the Steiny
: copy on Musicyo would be a decent bass? and I'm kind of lost about an amp. I play a little guitar but I don't have the ego required
: to excell at this ; ) and one of the things I've come accross is a Smokey amp. It's a little amp actually built into a used cigarette box.
: Highly cool. Does anyone know of a similar thing for Bass, any kind of bass mini-amp? What kind of bass would be similar to the stieny
: copy, small cheap and decent quality? As usual, your help is always greatly appreciated...

Kevbo,
The Steinbergers on MusicYo *are* Steinbergers, albeit not the high-end models of yore.

Gibson bought Steinberger several years back; they're marketing the Steinbergers on MusicYo (which is owned by Gibson, iirc) a wholesale price or thereabouts.

As for the Smokey amps, they *rock*; tiny little things, but they can actually drive a 4x12 Marshall cabinet (I've done it)! Not sure if there's a bass-specific version, but I'd imagine you could use the regular version for a bass amp with little or no problem. :-)

Hope that helps!

-Bob
