: Hi guys!
: I am about to buy an old "Alexis" bass. I was told that it was made by EKO in Italy back in the mid 60s. Have anyone heard of this bass before? The body simply says "Alexis super bass", and the headstock is empty (no logo/nothing).
: It has two singecoil PUs, a three way switch and F-holes (it is a semi accoustic). Black/Red/Yellow sunburst.
I'm not familiar with the "Alexis" name, but I'm *definitely* familiar with the old EKO guitars and basses!
EKO was one of the *big* guitar/bass makers in Europe in the 1960's; so big, in fact, that they built the legendary Vox guitars and basses for Jennings Musical Instruments (the Vox company; Vox instruments will usually have "Made in Italy" decals somewhere on the headstock)!
EKOs generally have a "retro-cool" vibe to them; not great by today's standards, but fun instruments, and a lot of them have all sorts of cool little bells and whistles (kinda twitchy, unfortunately).
Hope that helps!
