: The newest article of mine to be posted at www.globalbass.com (see the gold lettered link at the bottom right of the home page directing you to Churchbass) has my advice about beginning to groove - really aimed at church bassists who play in a church Praise Band, but the advice is applicable to any player who has trouble finding the pocket. I would like to know your folks' feedback on what I wrote.
Interesting article. I wondered why it always feels better to practice with the metronome doing 2 and 4.
As an aside, I've been practising sight-reading from a book that only does rhythm studies for the first half of the book. It really has helped me - I think I've always focussed too much on harmonically interesting/complex basslines but neglected the rhythmic side of playing.
