: Everybody knows about Flea and Wooten and all these famous stars but do you have any favorite players maybe all of us haven't heard about?
: Any players you think I should check out, any style. It's an inspiration to find new ways of approcing the bass.
: I don't have any bassists to name here but I'd like to commend a drummer, the bassists' best friends, Marvin "Smitty" Smith. Check him out for instance the Buddy Rich memorial concert.

I would have to say...keep an eye out for Scott Hubbell, he is awesome, as well as Adam Nitti, both are very similar in their styles, kind of a jazz rock stew. Ray Riendeu (sp) and Bill Dickens are worth checking out also. You can check out Scotts take on "Flight of the Bumble Bee" at www.bassically.net/realmedia/bee.ram as well as some very informative lessons that you could use to put that fancy new Yamaha 6 to work at, since they are geared more towards 6 string players....
