: Ever since I started to play bass i've dreamed of owning the perfect bass.

: Today when I was talking to my friend we started talking about the perfect guitar and the perfect bass.

: I decided that my perfect bass would have;
: 1) The neck form a Warwick bass
: 2) Some great pickups (any pickups with a warm, thick and very, very bass sound)
: 3) A two teck bridge (or is that 2 Tek ?)
: 4) the body of a gibson SG
: 5) active electronics

: I'm quite sure that you can't simply take all these peices and throw them together to get a great bass.
: But. Can you take the neck, pickups, electronics and bridge and then fix them to a "home-made" body ?
: Just as long as you could make the body yourself you could make almost any bass, with different parts from different basses, right ?

: What I really want to know is if this would work or not, are there implications?

: Also, could I get someone to make the body of the bass and assemble it for me ?
: Are there people who would / could do that (for a price of course) ?

: Any help'd be appreciated
: Thanks
: Adam

Adam, you can make a guitar/bass out of any material or shape that you want. Some materials don't sound as good as others, but, it could be done. One custom maker that I know of is at www.dpcustom.com Check out his site. He's in North or South Carolina. (I forget which) He's pretty honest, and will give you a price up front. I haven't had anything built by him, but, a few guys I know have. Check out his site, what have you got to loose?
