: I saw a mention in the post on maple vs rosewood necks recommending using Tru-oil on fretless necks. I have also heard recommendations for everything from plain tung oil to marine epoxy.

: I would like to know what has worked (and what hasn't) as far as fretless neck coating.

: Also, for plain fretted instuments, what type of polish/oil do you use on the neck? I was told told never to use lemon oil since it drys the neck out.

I'm the one who recommended Tru-Oil, it gives you a very hard, wear-proof surface. For fretted instruments, try "Guitar Honey", available at most guitar stores, and made especially for fingerboards (I assume by "neck" you mean fingerboard. If you mean the back of the neck, any good guitar polish will work fine).
