: I'm looking to replace the bridge on my Fender Jazz Bass - it's a 62 re-issue.

: I'm curious about what choices I have in selecting a new bridge and the pros and cons of the different designs.

: I'm also working under the following constraints.
: 1. I can only spend around $100.
: 2. It needs to be a simple installation that I can do myself with minimal hassle.

: Thanks,

Hey there Bob,
if you intend to keep the vintage vibe of your axe, I'd recommend considering a Gotoh replacement bridge. They look a lot like the original ones, yet the are sturdier and have some sort of recessed chanels on the plate that help to prevent side-to-side saddle movement. I have one installed in my Modulus VJ4 and it works wonderfully.
Now, if you don't mind about looks, take Pat H's advice and try a Badass bridge. They're sturdy as they come and don't require any special instalation skills.
Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,

El Pájaro
