: : O.k. thanks to all who answered my previous post about power amps. I am
: : leaning towards a DCM 600, and have a question or two. I will be using this to run a demeter preamp, into a bag end 15" cabinet rated at 300 watts at 8 ohms..

: : The specs on this power amp are 125 watts at 8 ohms stereo, and 450 watts at 8 ohms bridged...

: : 1) bridging simply means combining both channels for one output correct?

: : 2) the rep at carvin said something about using this amp bridged may not be a good idea due to sound degradation, or something to that effect...

: : what am i missing here, is there any reason not to use this particular amp to run the rig i talked about above?

: Yes, bridging means combining both channels into one mono amp. I've never heard of sound degradation because of bridging an amp, and the manual for my Carvin power amp doesn't mention it. Maybe you should call again and try to get them to confirm that.

You should NOT have any noticeable sound quality loss running an amp in bridged mode. 450 bridged sound sound great through the bag end. I agree, call them back and get them to clarify! -B
