In Reply to: How to get more high ends on telecaster bass? posted by M. T. on December 28, 2001 at 08:45:34:
: Hi Folks!
: I own a 78 Telecaster Bass with a flatwound string, it creates the most awesome low sound and I love this bass for it.
: However, as most of you who have played this breed surely know, telecaster basses doesnt have a good high end sound.
: My Question is, is there a way to get more high end using external device? I dont want to change the original pick up nor do I want to change the type of strings.
: Thanks :)
Well, if you don't want to change the *pickup*, and you don't want to change the *strings* (you might want to boil them if they need cleaning; that can add some to the tone), then what you're going to need is an equalizer (EQ).
There are also a number of effects processors that can modify the tone with EQ and other effects.
I'd say that you're going to have to take your bass into a music store and just try a bunch of different effects to find what'll work best for your needs.
Hope that helps!
