: Hey guys...my mom bout me a new amp for x-mas..its a peavy basic 112. what do you guys know about it. and does any one know how to get loud with out it distorting horably. thax for your help-the brewmeister

Peavey combos are great! They're very reliable, and practically indestructible. Tend to be kind of heavy, though.

Your amp is 50 Watts - just about enough to play with a band, if you don't get too loud. If you turn it up and it distorts, try turning down the Pre Gain knob and turning the Master Volume up. Also - turning up the low and low mid eq will allow you to cut through more. Make sure you have the Active/Passive switch in the right position - If your bass has a battery inside, use the Active position; otherwise it's passive.
If you still need more power, adding an extension speaker will give you another 25 Watts.

Hope you found this helpful. Enjoy your new amp.

Good Luck,

Rob
