: what would happen if i hook up a 4 ohms speaker to a 8 ohms output??? would that mess any thing up??? i built a speaker cab but its a 4 ohms speaker and now im kinda scared to hook it up. thanx guys for you help!!

Amps usually have two INPUTS: high and low. All that does is determine how much signal the amp is going to get from your bass... not a big deal. The amp has one OUTPUT. That MUST match both the output of the amp and the input of the speaker(s). At such a low resistance, any mismatch can be disastrous! You're looking at a 50% decrease or a 200% increase depending on the input/output combination. If it doesn't match, don't plug it in! Better safe than sorry.
