: My 10 year old daughter plays bass, she plays the Ashbory bass (shorter than a short scale, I believe). But the G string breaks frequently.
: I use mostly flatwounds, myself. I would be interested in the answer - whether there is a set of short flatwounds.
here is the link for the short flatwounds I found. I use the brite flats and love them on my 35" bass.
I brought home an ashbory for my son to try, but i was worried that he would be too hard on the strings, and giving a 5 year old a fretless instrument is just too painful!!
I know young violinists do it all the time, but man, that's hard!
Just wondering how tall is your daughter? My son is about 4'2", just short enough that he can't use a full sized bass, but the short scale will be perfect for him.
