Strings for a 34" will work but you will end up with string tension different than on a 34". Usually a short scale is defined as about 30". Strings made for a 30" bass have different gauges to compensate for the shorter length, usually a big bigger. You may "trick" the bass into thinking it has 30" scale strings by going to a larger gauge set made for 34". It's not a perfect solution but one you may have to live with. I have a Dan Armstrong Clear body and a Univox Violin body bass; both are short scale and I've been using regular length strings and have been doing fine. But whenever I find short scale strings, I buy as many sets as I can afford!
