Hi Robin,

I have had no personal experience with Xwire 905, but if you've ever seen Victor Wooten live with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, or on his solor tour, you've heard (or not heard) the 905. See

There's a link there and on other pages I've found to, but the site seems non-findable (new word).

My Samson Stage 2 VHF/FM non-diversity receiver is in need of repair (again - I've had it over 10 years), so I've been looking at the Samson Airline wireless info. Our local music store has only one in stock - the Strat type plug. I play bass, so I need the "Gibson" style, right-angle transmitter. Also, I would probably get the Airline transmitter with the Series One (true diversity) receiver. See

I've been very happy with the Samson unit. If you don't mind VHF systems, Samson makes a true diversity system - the Concert IV - which American Musical Supply ( sells for $219.95 (list $399.99). Their prices are comparable to the deals I get locally. See (long URL)

Hope this doesn't sound like an extended plug for AMS, but they carry one of the more extensive lines of wireless. Their catalog and website have separate categories just for wireless. Assuming you're looking for guitar/bass wireless, their list is on

Sorted by price, units range from $99.95 to $449.97. All prices listed here are USDollars.

You can use their page as a source for some manufacturers and check out the makers' websites. That's where I am in my process.

Happy hunting, hope I've helped at least a little.

: my ongoing search of the perfect (and cheap!) wireless system I've been consistently directed toward the Xwire 905 wireless system. But, from what I understand, the system is not made any more.

: Does anyone have any factual knowledge about what happened to this product?

: Does anyone have any real-world experience using one for bass?

: Tour supply Inc. sells them for $750 (or so their website says..."limited stock", whatever that may mean). From what I can gather this system can go head to head with the best out there, including the multi-thousand dollar setups at the top of the line.

: Thanks, in advance, for your input.
