: I recently bought a custom 5-string bass from Dave Pushic and I'm find it very neck heavy. The head stock end of the bass sags downward making it harder to relax my left hand (having to hold it up as well). Is there anything I might be able to do to fix this? Perhaps a different, yet safe position for a strap peg?
: Thanks much!
I had the same problem with a hollow body violin bass; the body was light, the neck was heavy. This is how I handled it (though not really recommended): I would take my cable and wrap it around the body end of the strap before plugging it into the bass. I would balance the bass in my regular playing position then stand on the end of the cable laying on the floor. The only other method I can think of is the tacky way folk guitar players do it... tie a leather strip around the peghead and the other end around the strap.
