Thank you all!
1. I don't see the reason to make a neck without side markers. Not only in "the most important positions" but in 3,5,7,9,12 e.t.c
2. Fretlines are ugly. I mean an all-black ebony fingerboard is *amazing*. The same neck with fretlines is like any other neck. It is not so much about "cheating", it is about the look of the bass. (The standard maple inlayed lines make high contrast with ebony)
3. The line positions are never exact. Depending on the bridge adjustment, the correct fingering will vary slightly between high and low registers (from "just before" to "just after" the line). You will also have to correct intonation by ear, because of the finger width. So does it really worth destroying a beautifull fingerboard with these things?
