I have a 5 year old that is dying to learn bass, and he learned all he could on my long
scale, so I bought him a bronco bass today. For those of you who have not seen
one, it looks like a P-bass, but in 30" scale. One single-coil pickup, which sounds
better than it has any right to. I was shocked at how good the sound was, but a little
troubled by the amount of hum that it produces. The bridge is total crap, with no
way to intonate individual strings, that really bothers me.
The funny thing is, after playing a long scale, I thought his would be really hard to
adjust to, but it's not. In fact, If i could get a better bridge, and pop a pickup in it that
didn't hum so bad, I might consider using it myself.
Anyway, the bass looks great on him, and in one day he already got through the
pages in his lesson book that were hanging him up on my bass.
Any thoughts or experience out there on how to sup-up a bronco?
thanks in advance,
