: HEY!! can you guys give me some tips on how to get more funky? I feel like my bass lines are starting to all sound the same and i would like some pointers on how to keep a good funky groove! Thank you for you help! the BREWMIESTER
: P.S. Does the BP200 by digitec have a good wah wah and a synth bass simulator??
Along with what's already been said, you might want to listen to some of the old Stax/Volt stuff (Duck Dunn rules!), the Muscle Shoals/Fame stuff, Sly & the Family Stone (Larry Graham rocks!), etc., from the 60's; those guys pretty much wrote the book on funky bass lines. :-)
Take notice not only of the bass lines, but how they interact with the *drums*. For example, the late Al Jackson's (Booker T & the MG's) style wasn't really all that flashy, but he was *deep* in the pocket, and Duck Dunn keyed off of that *magnificently*! Same with James Jamerson and the Motown drummers.
Hope that helps!
