I bought one of the first XWires over three years ago, when it had problems they swapped it out for a newer version which is the one Victor Wooten uses. It was the only wireless I've ever used that was actually clean enough for bass - the analog ones always affected the tone in some way.

I've only had trouble once, at a location that was directly below a microwave tower. Otherwise it has worked flawlessly at all my shows (Last year: 12 with Phil's Harmonic Orchestra, 50 with John Reese & Open Hearts and 2 with El Kabong).

I keep seeing the same unit in pictures of people's racks in Bass Player Magazine.

The only drawback is limited range, during sound-checks I walk around and find the dead spots and distance limit so I can avoid drop-outs. The on/off switch is completely silent, I use it for several instruments (4,5,6 string bass and acoustic guitar) and just swith off, disconnect, change instrument, reconnect and switch on.

I found this thread on Google, I'm glad to hear the Xwire technology is still available - some day when I'm doing better financially I'll be getting another for redundancy like Phil Lesh has ;-)
