: : I am having a real dilema on picking a new bass. I mostly play jazz and funk styles while i do do a little emo and rock stuff. I am not sure on weather to buy a neck-thru or bolt on neck i have read up on both and i am thinking about getting a tobias toby pro 4 string with bubinga body and i just can't seem to find a good bolt on in the same price range as the toby (under $800). Any little amount would be much apreciated!

: AS,
: Actually, the question of neck-thru/bolt-on isn't as important as making sure that the bass you get is the *right* one for *you*. :-)

: Ask yourself what *you* want/need in a bass; Are you looking for a 4 or 5-string? Do you need 1 pickup? 2? More? Do you want a satin finish on the neck? Gloss? What kind of wood, etc.?

: See, stuff like that is going to be a *lot* more important in the long run than just whether you get a neck-thru or bolt-on. Once you get an idea of what the right bass is for *you*, then go and find it! :-)

: Hope that helps!

Wow.. Neck-thru's do make alot of difference, and alot more expensive... i could care less about a satin finish or gloss.. a neck thru or bolt on is much more important then both of those put together.. now the wood and pickups are important, but thats more of a preference thing
