Wolf's interview by Ed friedland in BP covers some excellent topics about bass setup, action, pickups and neck straightness. I have personally played on his setups and they are extremely comfortable. But, that's only the acoustic aspect, Wolf does wonders with the amplified sound getting the pickup adjusted just right. There is always a unique tonal character in the instruments he sets up and uses. The sound is always musical and cuts through any band without being too loud, and with a quality in tone that is rare. Wolf's tone is a very good example of what can be done on a passive bass. One particular aspect that was mentioned in the BP article is that he is a very gifted player, a studio engineers dream player. He has the sound, control and technique that makes recording easy. Yet, I personally enjoy his live playing...it's not a mechanical effort, the whole player is completely immersed in the music and his expressive style enhances the music. There is another interview on Wolf on the Contact page at Stewart Basses with an email link to Wolf at M.I.S.C.
