: Hi,

: I'm thinking of making a trade for an Engelhardt Upright Bass, the guy says it's a C-1 but I can find a reference for EC-1 only. Are they the same thing? Any comments about the quality? Deal includes a bag and stand, I'd have about $1200 in it. It's supposed to be new with 2-year warranty. I'm a beginner. Thanks.

EC-1, C-1,close enough. Its predecessor cousin, the infamous Kay, came in Models C1 & M1. It's an easy enough corruption of the term to be taken innocently. I believe the EC1 is Englehardt's student or bottom line bass. The ones I've seen & heard seem ok enough for beginner. You can buy something probably better on E-bay, for same money, but beware. Get a grip on what you want to do long term, read the posts, and learn, learn, learn.

Unless it's an awfully good bag, I think the deals a bit high compared to a survey of most web markets. But again, a lot of guys punching out bluegrass licks around here use the Englegardt for its fashionable thud, and overall toughness.
Good Luck
