: : : Does anyone know of a reasonably priced (not Velvet!) line of strings w/ a synth core that are between metal & gut in thickness ?... most of the composite strings I`ve tried are thin like steel strings - I use gut on one bass & I`d like to find a string that`s truly a cross between gut & metal for my other bass......

: : The Picato Innovation may be what you're looking for.

: : They're available in solid and braided core.

: : I have a set of two weeks old braided core (more gut-like tone than the solid)

: : to sale for cheap.

: : I'm waiting after a potential buyer's answer.

: : (I ask US$20 for the whole set...)

: Thanks but I`ve tried the Innovations - they`re too thin and disintegrated rather quickly....I do most of my gigs (350+ per annum!) totally unamplified - I play hard + need something rugged as well.....

Hi Todd,
I've had good luck with Pirastro's new Obligato line but they may be to thin for your taste.Have you tried Sensicore by Super Sensitive?
Also Thomastik's Dominant ,both are closer to guts in thickness.Good Luck!
