: I'm using an ACOUSTIC 136 bass amp (Acoustic Control Corporation Van Nuys,California) Underwood bridge pick up and a Fishman Pro Eq Platinum PRE AMP.

: There must be some way of obtaining more volume without feedback. should i try a different pick up, should i get a new amp or should i just go back to playing electric bass ?

: Any constructive answers would be greatly received.

: Thanking you in anticipation.

: Kevin Fox (Melbourne Australia) There is a limit, IMHO, to the volume available onstage to the upright player for the same reason that rock guitarists seeking extreme volume levels use solid body guitars and that reason is the presence of a hollow resonating chamber - a feedback trap at high volume....Short of using a solid body upright (many varieties available) you could try other pickups less likely to include sonic info from the instrument`s body - P. Joseph`s "String Charger", Barbera, Wilson, Fishman, etc...............
