Do you have a Windows-based PC and a microphone (they are cheap)?

AP Instrument Tuner v1.02 is a freeware tuner you can download from ZDNet:,,001AB5,.html

AP Instrument Tuner is a fast and accurate instrument tuner, dedicated to a wide variety of instruments from the tuba to the piccolo, that can quickly find notes and correctly identify octaves. Play your instrument into a microphone plugged into your sound card's microphone jack and you'll see the Input Energy Indicator rise and fall. The current note being played will be displayed in the upper-left-hand corner of the screen, and the needle in the central display window (the Fine Tuning Indicator) will show the current percentage of error. This program can detect and display a pitch within 50 milliseconds, updating 20 times per second and resolving pitches to within 1 percent of a half step without sacrificing speed. Although it needs more detailed instructions to help you realize its full potential, this free instrument tuner's high degree of accuracy merits your attention.
