: : : Hi,
: : : I'm doing a double bass recital in june, and I'm in desperate need of some more repertoire. I'm looking for 20th century pieces written for either solo double bass with percussion accompaniment, or solo bass with tape accompaniment. If anybody knows of any pieces/composers that could be of use to me please let me know, I would be very grateful.
: : : Thanks!
: : : Bas.
: : Lemur Music has a large selection of bass music. www.lemur-music.com
: : they are nice folks and they ship really quickly.
: Yeah, the Frank Proto stuff is Pretty Good, also Look for some Bertram Turetzky
: Recordings. His performance of "Failure" was always one of my favourites, also the Sydeman unaccompanied Concerto. And don't forget the Hindemith Sonata!
We think you have a couple of choices not mentioned above. Yorke editions, Guettler: Rendezvous for DB, Choir, Narrators & Percussion is in stock. Liben editions, Story of Herman for DB, Percussion, narrator and tape. Please ask about other Proto pieces that feature this same tape (CD really). Failure is tough going, but Leadre Taxi is great fun if you are a show-off. Please use the catalog to check out the Ludwin titles, some of them are quite good and are listed in their own section under Solo Bass. "Failure" is quite difficult, hence the title. Unfortunately, the Hindemeith is out of stock out of print with the publisher until June 2001. By the way, you can create your own music search using our website www.lemurmusic.com. Use the Search Feature and enter Solo DB, solo double bass, percussion, tape, any of these words will move you through the site's extensive collection of bass music. We have over 1100 titles, many of which are exclusive to Lemur. Good luck. Toni Buffa, Lemur Lady
